Infographics
For my project this week, I chose to use Piktochart. Piktochart is a free app that can be downloaded from the app store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/piktochart/id924299646?mt=8. Piktochart is a simple formatting website/app that helps to create visually interesting infographics and posters. The strength of this app is how simple it is to make a professional looking poster. The app automatically aligns your shapes and boxes with one another, so everything is perfectly centered and easy to look at. Also, the app creates color palates for you based on the science of color. There's nothing worse than not being able to read the information on a poster because the creator chose a weird color scheme that's hard to look at. Piktochart does all of the heavy lifting for the creator, which makes it super accessible. The downside to that is, there isn't much room for creativity unless you "upgrade" and switch to a paid app. If you're making multiple infographics and you'll use it well, spending the money may not be a big deal. But, if you don't want to pay, there isn't much wiggle room within the themes they give you. Piktochart is a great way to give information to students in the classroom. It's a fun way to add to your classroom decorations in a cheap way. And it's so quick! You could easily make an infographic for every chapter or unit without it taking up tons of time. Overall, this app is a wonderful way to get started and get your creativity flowing! I would highly recommend this for teachers and students!
